The degree of Honorary Doctor of Philosophy was conferred on Professor Aldo R. Boccaccini (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany), Vice-President of FEMS, at Åbo Akademi University (ÅAU), Turku, Finland.
The Honorary Doctor degree is in recognition of his successful research in biomaterials and his collaboration with Åbo Akademi University. Specifically, Boccaccini is engaged in research collaboration with the Johan Gadolin Process Chemistry Centre at ÅAU in the research area of bioactive glasses and composites.
